REST (Real Escape From Sex Trade) helps the nearly 3,000 people in our area who are being exploited by the sex trade. This non-profit was started in 2009 by a small team of women who recognized that too few services existed in our area to help people who have been victimized by the horrors of the sex trade. They believe that everyone is worthy of love and a life without exploitation. By reaching out to individuals in the sex trade they learned what they really need, and based their mission off of fulfilling those needs. They provide relationship-based, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed services for hundreds of men and women throughout King and Snohomish counties. More specifically they provide emergency shelter, health and wellness visits, case management, self-identifying classes, and basic empowerment to leave the life of the sex trade and the influences of that life.
Serving The Underserved
Here at Ezell’s it was important to us to be able to help such a worthy cause in any way we can. To get the chance to help serve these underserved and more than deserving people made it an incredibly easy decision to partner with REST. What made our decision easier was the fact that we were asked for by name by many of REST’s clients. In fact, some of these same clients had been or are some of our very own employees, so this really became a slam dunk for us.
We have donated meals to REST client celebrations, and the response has been amazing! We have been told by members of REST that the clients love the chicken, and that it helps each celebration be special. Our food helps provide a great atmosphere for clients to connect and let down their guards, which creates a great relationship building tool.
By donating our food and our services, REST is able to allocate funds that would have otherwise been used to feed hungry clients towards areas that the clients need the most help with. These areas include education, counseling and medical assistance. We are so happy to help such an amazing cause that is doing incredible work for our community. Donations are always welcome, and there are many volunteering options to explore. Thanks REST!
