The Northwest Technology Equity Initiative and The National Black MBA Association
The Northwest Technology Equity Initiative (NWTEI) is a local non-profit centered on deepening corporate and community engagement to increase education, training, and career opportunities for underrepresented communities, women and girls, and youth of color within STEM and high-technology fields.
The Seattle chapter of the National Black MBA Association is a group of professionals dedicated to investing in the leader of tomorrow, who aim to be the center of impact for a community of diverse professionals).
A Brighter Future With Rev. Jackson
Both of these groups came together with church leadership, and community leaders at Amazon at the request of Reverend Jesse Jackson to help further the goal of a more diverse work field in the northwest. Rev. Jackson’s ultimate goal is to create an Amazon board of directors, and ultimately a workforce that looks more like America looks, with all genders and races represented more equally. Today, Amazon’s board is made of exclusively caucasian males, and Rev. Jackson’s aim with this meeting was to help push the agenda of racial equity inside of Seattle’s tech giant, Amazon. He hopes to see not only this wish come to fruition, but to have the company (and others like it) embrace the population of under-privileged youth who are aching to join this world of tech. Jackson has called on Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon to help create more opportunities for training and education for this new generation.
Partnering For The Future
Ezell’s partnered with these forward-looking entrepreneurs, business people, and church members on this common goal of lifting up a community. We at Ezell’s Famous chicken were more than excited to have the opportunity to provide meals for this distinguished group of business leaders who continue pushing forward this agenda of equity and future mobility for a large swath of the population that may otherwise be left behind. This cause is incredibly close to our hearts, and we could not be happier to help.
